A lotus flower designed of porcelain for tea

”The lovely shape is naturally beautiful and globally rooted in the depths of our soul” – the designer Daniel Eltner used this guiding principle as the basis for bridging the divide between english-european tea culture and the original tea culture of Asia.

Daniel Eltner found that his ideas were reflected in the lotus flower‘s process of growth and this was the formal equivalent of a symbol which expresses this dialogue. The bud grows from the depth of a lake, following the light up out of the water, and then opens its petals to nature and sunlight.
